Good afternoon! I know there are other threads discussing the topic, but I haven’t been able to find a single valid link today to buy them because most of you who bought them and shared the links did so 2-4 years ago.
I’ve been looking at them for several days now, and I’m waiting for responses from 2 AliExpress sellers whom I’ve asked about the validity of their headlights regarding certifications.
So far, what I know is:
They must have fog lights.
They must have the E9 (I don’t know if it should be engraved somewhere or just on paper).
What I’m asking for help with, wise forum members, is: - Which version is better? V1 V2 V3? I’m a bit confused about that. - Could you help me, if you have time, or if you bought it recently, to find a purchase link for the headlights where we can ensure it’s compatible with Spain?
I’m sure it could help future buyers because most of the links, as I mentioned before, are already expired, or some sellers have the product discontinued or marked as “out of stock indefinitely,” etc.
To conclude, I’ve seen some things available that were being sold for 800-900€, which is out of my budget. I was looking for something more around 250-400.
Here I attach 2 links, which are the ones I have asked:
Well, we have been talking privately, but I’m responding here for everyone else! I’m going to decide to get these, as they are distributed by Amazon, so if I have any problems, I can return them. On the other hand, although there are some negative reviews, when translating them (they are in German), they usually mention that some arrived with scratches, or that it was difficult to assemble due to the wiring distance, but there are no complaints about the functionality and brightness. I will update once I install them in about 15 days for those who are interested.
There you can see what I paid and what they cost, and it’s just a matter of removing some and putting in the LEDs, I didn’t have to run any cables from one light to another, both lights come with the option to disconnect the sequential effect when turned on.
Good day, No, you just have to remove the lights and connect plug and play, and if you don’t want it to have the sequential effect when turning on, each light has its own switch, it’s like this one in the image, it comes already connected to the light. If you end up buying them, pick up a coupon, it always has one. And the good thing is that I didn’t pay any customs fees.
For homologation, I spoke with a homologation website online and they told me that if the lights have the E9, there is no need to homologate, otherwise I would have already done it. I haven’t passed the ITV yet, it’s due at the end of April, but I know there are people who have passed it with Mugen ones with the E9 of course, if they don’t have the E-Mark or E9, they wouldn’t pass the ITV. I could homologate others with another brand, but most of those sold in China don’t have any reference. I went through several Aliexpress stores until I found this one where I bought them, I wrote to the seller and asked them to take a picture to see if it had the E9, I did this with all of them but this was the only one that had it so I could use them here. I recommend writing to them before buying and if necessary, ask them to take a photo of the lights showing the E9. Here are some photos of the E-Mark and how they look on the car installed, in the images it seems to light up yellow but no, it’s red.
Hello, could you help me regarding the fact that I have some Mugen but I don’t know how to activate the sequential effect part… since it doesn’t have the button… I was told that by pressing the brake and the lights I could activate it, but the truth is that it’s very difficult… since my car doesn’t have a start button but rather the regular key… Best regards, I hope you can help me, thank you.
Make sure those lights have a sequential effect, first ask where you bought them. If they don’t come with the switch, I don’t know how to help you. I’ve seen some Mugen installed and they have a switch on just one light, which is why the lights come with a cable that needs to be bridged with the other light. If they have a sequential effect and it doesn’t work, it might be that some cable is not properly connected, check the installation, sometimes in a hurry we do something wrong. In this tutorial, you can see that they are not sequential, if they were, it would have been shown in the tutorial, only the indicators are sequential and as you can see, it has a cable that needs to be passed to the other light. I think the ones you bought are like the ones in the video, if not, I apologize, as I haven’t seen a photo of yours, I can’t say more. I’ll leave you the tutorial where you can see that those lights don’t come with the switch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKCHeVGay80&t=126s
This is another installation tutorial for some Mugen lights and it doesn’t have the switch, and if they are sequential, take a look in case you have installed something incorrectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG7CeqG2X8Q
That’s what we’re here for, to lend a hand if possible, and sometimes with the joy of assembling or installing what we’ve bought, we might make a mistake without realizing it.
But are you referring to the front lights? I suppose the front lights will have DRL, but this thread is to talk about the rear lights that don’t have them and are already homologated.
Ostia, then I really messed up. I was referring to the rear lights, yes, in all the videos I watched back in the day, they made me understand that they had lights that were always on, even during the day, like the front ones.
My mistake then.
I’ll take advantage of the post for a question. The ones I bought come like this, with the whole bunch of cables coming out of the same hole, instead of having their respective slots to house the connectors.
Did anyone who installed it have it like this? I understand that all this can be hidden behind the rubber seal that goes to the panel, right?
It’s just that I don’t like having that bunch of cables dangling under the light, where there’s condensation, moisture, dirt, etc., even if I tape it.
Mine (V1) were separate and you closed/isolated like in the original pilot, each with its connector. That system of yours seems a bit unreliable to me, yes.
Well, to be honest, I don’t think I’ll install them. I’ll take another look, but just in case, you don’t happen to have a link to where you bought yours, do you?
Edit: Okay, I checked out the v1, those are the ones I’ll get. I asked, and actually the v2 also have the brand, but I like them less.
