Honda Prelude 2026

The last thing I post today, about the Prelude. An article where they talk about some of its features: The 2026 Honda Prelude Is Here. We Got An Early Look

Fake sound, fake marches, fake fun

It already has an official price: €49,500

More or less what I expected, considering it has the equipment of the Civic Advance (the top of the range). We’ll have to see if there will be promotions, because initially it might be a bit expensive.

I think this came out a couple of months ago, but there’s already a GT500 variant of the Prelude… It kicks the previous one, which was an FL5, a thousand times over. How beautiful racing cars with coupe bodies are…

I bring an article I saw about the Prelude. I’m surprised they say it has a better feel than a Civic Si. I’ll leave the article here in case anyone wants to take a look. We Took Our First Spin In the 2026 Honda Prelude. Here’s What We Learned.

Same suspension, steering rack, and brakes as the Type R…that already says a lot

Let’s see if we start seeing them around here

Hello. It’s a car that, despite having a fake manual transmission and fake sound, I really like aesthetically, so much so that I’m going to track the price and, depending on what they offer me for my Civic, I’m considering making the jump to the Prelude. The dynamic qualities of this car are promising, and the press seems to be impressed by its dynamic behavior, which is what I value most in a car, not its transmission, engine type, or sound. Although, like most here, I would like it to have a powerful VTEC inside and a refined and precise manual transmission, but times and technology change. Best regards.

Mugen announced that they were going to bring upgrade parts, but what I have seen has been mostly aesthetic and not so much performance. I trust they will do it just like Spoon.

Mugen always prioritizes aesthetics over performance (although they sometimes release a part), which is almost the opposite of Spoon, which focuses on performance and then some additions.

Morrillu: Do you have a girlfriend? I’m a sexy fifty-something…

Start preparing at least €45/50k

It’s a good price, similar to what they ask for a Civic Type R for a car that has a similar performance to the Type R from what I’ve read, but hybrid and automatic. If they offer me around 20K€ for my Civic when the Prelude comes out, I’ll get a “Type R coupe” for 30K€ :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well, similar… if you see it that way

In fact, I find it more aesthetically pleasing than a current Civic Type R. I love the coupe aesthetics, and if according to the tests conducted it has excellent dynamic performance, then it’s my ideal car.

It’s nice, it will perform well, and it will consume little, no one doubts that. But from there to a “Type R coupe”…

Let’s not kid ourselves, even if it has to handle very well with the chassis, it’s missing half a car starting with the engine to reach what a Type R is. And for the price it has, losing a car and having to put another 30k on top when you can directly buy the R, I don’t see it as a regular deal, it’s downright horrible. Now, if you’ve set your heart on it and it works for you, congratulations, I’ll be the first to want to try it.

The problem is that you can’t buy a new TypeR for less than €60,000 anymore, so the only option to have a car with similar dynamics and a coupe line, although less powerful, is the Prelude, which I hope will stay around €40-45K. Everything depends on whether I can test drive it, because I’m not going to buy a car like that “blind” since for me, dynamic performance is above any other factor, including power. And of course, it all depends on the value of my current car and the final price they offer me for the Prelude. My Civic more than meets my dynamic performance requirements (I don’t have the driving skill level to try to reach its dynamic limits), but it lacks being a coupe, a type of car I’ve always wanted to have. I tried to switch to the GR86, but it wasn’t the right economic moment to do so. Now, a Japanese coupe is being presented again, and I hope to at least be able to consider the operation once I can close the balance of income and expenses of it  Regards

You already have the numbers, several Civics have been sold recently around here and there are quite a few for sale, and the new thing is to go to Honda on Monday and ask. It’s all about taking the plunge or not.

Around €53k is expected unless there is a last-minute surprise.

Let’s hope for a surprise after the novelty of the first few months passes… For more than €45K for the Prelude and less than €20K for my Civic, neither the numbers nor the desire to have it add up for me.
