Yes, I edited it earlier, to cover their backs considering what might, hypothetically and under certain circumstances, happen.
In any case, and sticking to the topic of the thread, if you are going to buy a car with 100,000 km, consider that expense shortly after. This is how it is.
Hello Fran, at home we have the 1.0 to which I did the belt myself and it came out intact, you have photos in the distribution thread, and the 1.5, 100,000 and 120,000 kms respectively, very happy, not a single visit to the workshop, nor a warning light on. Regarding consumption, the 1.0 in mixed use and under the same driving style consumes more than my 1.5 with TSP. On the highway, I take the 1.5 to 5.3-5.5 at 120 on flat terrain, so it’s not a gas guzzler and much more fun than the 1.0. Fear? Neither of the two. Is the 1.5 more worth it? If you want some excitement from time to time, 100%.
Good afternoon,
I just got a big surprise after taking my car to the shop. Let me tell you about it.
On the 23rd, I have an appointment for the AB23 service (550 euros), but here’s the thing: I asked if, while doing that service, it would be advisable to change the belt, since it’s approaching 100,000 kilometers and it will be 6 years old this summer. The service manager told me he’d rather look at the car and hook it up to the machine, since that shows the car’s condition and upcoming services; well, surprisingly, he told me it’s not necessary because there are still 588 days left until the belt change!!!
The belt change is 4, 8, 9; it can vary, but basically it’s almost certainly not necessary for another year and a half. He had a quote ready for the change and the total was 1,490 euros ![]()
