First experience with Honda... and a question

Hello: I just bought a 2026 Civic Advance. At 68 years old and with many, many kilometers under my belt, it’s time to change my mindset a bit. I’ve had all kinds of cars: from a Renault 4 to powerful estates with naturally aspirated V6 petrol engines. From nimble pocket rockets like a 1.9 205 GTI to a Megane RS. The one before last was a VOLVO XC60 B4. The latest is the Civic. I had never owned a Honda (car… bikes, yes) and don’t think for a second that I don’t regret it, because it is a real delight. If I were a few years younger I would have bought the Type R, but now I’m enjoying driving again. I never would have said that about a hybrid.

And now for a little question: Is there any way to turn off that hateful over-speed warning beep? I find it quite unbearable. It’s not that I drive like a maniac, but in urban and suburban traffic, where if you go the legal speed the rest of the cars will eat you alive, it’s insufferable.

Anyway… see you around.

Welcome!!!

Well, let’s see if another Civic XI owner can tell you if that beep can be disabled, I hope so.

Welcome. Regarding the beeps, I think it’s only possible in versions prior to 2026, but it reactivates when you turn the car off. This is because of those wonderful laws made by people who have chauffeurs, and it affects all modern cars.

It’s a total pain. Luckily, in the car I recently bought, you can turn it off by holding down a button on the steering wheel; mind you, it always starts with it on, since as they say, it’s mandatory.

But if you can’t turn it off, what a nightmare :head_shaking_vertically:
