You have several 635 Newton force references on Autodoc for the Type R spoiler, but considering the original Type R struts are a bit shorter, I imagine it’s to avoid easily smashing the spoiler against obstacles or low ceilings.
Otherwise, the Monroe M6330s or something like that which someone else posted above will work better, as they have a force halfway between the standard ones and the Type R ones, but with the dimensions of the standard ones. I think I’ll try those because I’ve never had to worry about clearance with the spoiler, so I don’t really need a shorter one.
In the end, I grabbed these, as they were about the same price as on DyreParts and just in case I had to return them… https://www.amazon.es/dp/B0FB3YVFM1
Apart from the fact that the tailgate now sounds like when you open a sofa bed, I’m very happy. Before, I had to lower it carefully because it would slam, and now you actually have to pull it down a bit to close it.
@Sirone and I have taken a chance on the ones from Dyreparts (Casals brand); looking at them and touching them, they seem to be very high quality. I’m going to install them now; they arrived in less than a day.
Edit: I’m running the 550mm and 650Nm ones with the original Type R spoiler (which is a bit heavier than the replicas), and if you aren’t careful, at the end of the travel it makes a banging sound because they have a bit too much force; maybe the ideal setup is to put one 600 and one 650 (they recommend 635 for the Type R hatch). Other than that, they’re working great so far.
EDIT: After a bit of use, the final banging is minimal and sometimes non-existent, but the force they have is a real pleasure.
