I’m thinking of installing a spoiler on my 10th generation Honda Civic and wanted to ask for your advice both on what options you recommend and on the topic of certification. I’ve seen options like the cheaper ones from Aliexpress, a spoiler supposedly exactly for the car model for 30 euros, and others on different sites around 200 euros.
Hello! I bought it just recently, a couple of weeks ago, after a lot of research and especially a lot of advice from the people here, I came to the conclusion that this is one of the best:
For prices like 30 euros for a spoiler, I wouldn’t even open the tab…
I already imagined that for 30 euros it wouldn’t be one of the best options, so if I put it on, I would make sure it’s of higher quality like the one you surely mentioned. This one you mentioned comes unpainted, right? And has it already arrived?
And what about the installation and certification you plan to do?
I haven’t received it yet; it’s supposed to arrive on the 8th, but I know some forum members who have it equipped (quite a few), hence my purchase.
Yes! It comes unpainted, and regarding the assembly, they usually come with templates that you place on top of the car to mark where to drill.
Anyway, I’m having it done, and if it serves as a guide, it’s a pretty fine place that prepares rally cars, etc., here in Asturias, and the budget they gave me is €70 for installation (1 and a half hours of labor) and €150 for painting (piano black).. so I don’t think the budgets will differ too much from that.
Lastly, regarding approvals, if you use the search function, you’ll find a lot of info from people who know more than I do. Mine, until it passes the ITV in 2 years, I have time. However, it works as follows:
Since it’s a substantial modification of the car’s characteristics, an engineer opens a project for you and does the approval. It sounds very serious, but there are plenty of companies dedicated to that, and although I don’t know their prices yet, I don’t think it’s something exorbitant (someone correct me if I’m wrong).
Lastly, let me tell you that I’ve had the Civic for half a month, and I have a bunch of little things ordered (spoilers, headlights, intake, and things like that), and in the coming days, I’ll create a post officially introducing myself (although I’ve been bothering the veterans here for a month already), and in the post, I’ll be updating everything I do, links, budgets, difficulties, etc.!
If you need anything, you can use the search function!
P.S.: @Morrillu would be proud that I recommended the search tool to you ![]()
Edit: I’m not sure to what extent there are price differences when it comes to approval if the technical sheet declares a sports body kit or not. In my case, I have the Sport Plus. Maybe someone can clarify that for you.
Good morning guys,
I’ve recently bought a Type-R replica too (mine costed around 170€ on aliexpress),
I’m here to ask for a lil favor, mine got shipped without template (the printed page that shows where to do drill) and my detailer would like to have it in order to install the spoiler
Do u guys still have a reference for yours?
Thank you
This is what I’ve found, hope it helps, make sure where the holes are because there are slightly variations, here is another template
