Hello. One of the buttons on the remote control has come off and another is misaligned. Until now, I hadn’t noticed because I have a cover for the remote, but yesterday when I removed the cover to clean the remote, one of the buttons came off (it has a broken tab) and another is slightly misaligned. And yes, something typical has happened to me too, I can’t find the second car remote…
I have seen that Aliexpress sells the remote and I was thinking of using those buttons to replace the broken one or using the remote directly from Aliexpress. Has anyone tried the latter? This is what I found on Aliexpress:
If your car has keyless start, the remote in the link is not the same. Look for the same remote and you’ll be sure to get it right since the buttons will be the same.
Hello. My car doesn’t have keyless start, it’s a 2019 Civic Sport. I’ve looked at the blade of the remote and it has a G like the one shown in the Aliexpress photo, so I guess it will work. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried using that remote from Aliexpress and/or has had to change the blade and its difficulty. Regards
Hello. It happened to me with a Toyota Corolla, and I bought the plastic remote (without the integrated circuit) on Amazon for €2, and it was great because I only changed the rubber buttons that had cracked. I changed both remotes for just €4.
Hello,
In some cars like my parents’ Peugeot/Citroen, I know you can buy a new key shell and transplant the chip and blade from the original. In our case, all the keys I’ve seen already have the chip, and although they look similar, the design is not the same between the original key and the Chinese replacement, making it impossible to transplant the chip from the old remote. For the same reason, although they look alike, the buttons are not the same and cannot be transplanted from one remote to another. Not long ago, one of the tabs that hold one of the buttons in place broke on mine.
After a lot of research, the best idea I came up with was to look for a second-hand original key in good condition…
Luckily, I already had a third key programmed by myself in the car, so it wasn’t a big problem for me. In my case, I bought a key like the one you showed on AliExpress, and the seller offered me the option to cut the key if I sent a photo of the original blade or the code that comes with the key. Once I had the key at home and with the Autel that many of us have (the Maxi AP200), I was able to program the new key to the car, and the key works perfectly except for the trunk button, which seems to be designed for the sedan version, and instead of unlocking, it tries to open the trunk (unsuccessfully because it remains locked).
Thank you very much for the clarification. That is exactly the button that has come off the remote in my case. It has side tabs to fit into the remote, and one of them has broken. For now, I have taped the button with adhesive tape, and since the remote has a protective cover, the fix isn’t visible…
Regards
