Hi, I just bought a 2019 Type R FK8 and I want to change all 4 tires. I have these options:
245 30 20 90Y
Bridgestone Potenza Sport
Continental SportContact 7
Goodyear F1 SuperSport
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Which ones do you recommend?

Based on the experience of users who have it, the stock Contis it came with were developed specifically for it.
Morrillu: at least that’s what someone I trust… a lot says.
I can only recommend the Contis, since I haven’t tried the others, and the Yoko 107s or 105s—I don’t remember which ones I put on—didn’t last very long.
They are all good tires, each with its own little quirks. Bridgestones are good dry tires and great for twisty sections, with a stiff sidewall and good steering feel, though they are a bit noisy and not the best in the wet either (but they are safe). Goodyears, on the other hand, have a softer sidewall (while still being a sports tire), making them more comfortable and reliable but less sporty. Michelin and Continental are probably the most well-rounded, and they are also more expensive… I’d go with the Contis, but you’ll be fine with any of them.
Thanks, I’ve decided to try the Continental 7s after all. I’ll let you know how they go.
On a Type R, you’ll burn through them quickly, so if they don’t convince you, it won’t be for long anyway ![]()
