Buy Civic 1.5 Sport

Hello everyone! I’m Álvaro and I love the Honda Civic Sport. I’ve been browsing various sites like Wallapop, Milanuncios, Autoscout24… and I can’t find good options. There are some acceptable options on buying and selling sites like Flexicar or Ocasionplus, however, friends and family have strongly advised me not to buy from there. What should I do? If anyone knows of any interesting listings or could help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

The problem is that there are few for sale, but it’s not a bad time to buy one because there are already some 11th generation Civics available second-hand, which causes the 10th generation to drop in price.

If you’re really going for a 1.5, and you see a good unit at ocasionplus or flexicar, with maintenance stamped by Honda, and at a good price, I would buy it because they are very reliable cars.

Thank you for responding! I was looking and on ocasionplus the turbo usually goes for around €20,000. I would like to go further and aim for the sport plus, but I can’t find it well, I’ll start investigating better. So should I forget about buying from a private seller? I know it’s much better at dealerships for warranty and such, but just in case I’m asking :face_with_monocle:

I wouldn’t rule out any option. Currently, there has been a psychosis created around buying from individuals, especially promoted by review and sales portals that obviously benefit from you buying from them, which in general has inflated prices and reduced supply.

It’s true that in theory, you should be more covered in a dealership than with an individual, but not always is one thing so good or the other so bad; it depends on the unit, the price difference, and who you deal with. In relatively new cars like this one, it doesn’t seem so crucial to me, because it’s rare for it to give you problems within a 1-year warranty.

I sold a Sport Plus a few months ago for less than 20,000 €. It’s about being attentive because there are units, and they will surely come up.

Thank you very much for the response, Dani! True, I hadn’t completely ruled out individuals, but the options I had weren’t very encouraging. I’ll be looking on Wallapop to see if I find anything interesting. I would also like to hire NeedCarHelp to be more at ease that no unexpected issues arise.

I also tell you that another reason there are few private sellers is, and I know because I recently experienced it, that people are soooo extremely distrustful when looking at the car that you end up avoiding complications and leaving it at a dealership, even knowing they’ll value it at the minimum and put it up for sale at the maximum the next day.

But I don’t see a problem, and if hiring an inspection service gives you peace of mind, fine. For a car of this price, it’s worth it.

PS: Anyway, I just saw the prices of those for sale and oh my :downcast_face_with_sweat: it takes away the desire.

Exactly, the prices are through the roof, but it’s a car I love. I’m looking on Wallapop and found one near me (Valencia). It looks good, it’s from a private seller, let’s see if I’m lucky, and if not, I’ll continue the search…

I don’t think so, I believe buying from a private seller is still the best option…

Dealers are professional scammers. They receive cars in both good and bad condition and don’t inspect them thoroughly; the only thing they check is that the bodywork is fine, there are no warning lights on the dashboard, and that the car holds up while the potential buyer tests it for a few kilometers. If there’s a major issue, you’ll have to deal with it no matter how much of a premium warranty they sell you.

However, generally, a private seller won’t sell you a car with a major problem. Those are the cars that end up with the dealers!

Thank you very much for the recommendation! The only fear I had about private sellers was that they might have something major, however, I can spot any anomaly with needcarhelp. I was researching private cars on wallapop and they don’t look too bad (I say this because they are expensive and sometimes have a lot of mileage). I would love a red one, but I don’t see any, so I think I’ll stick with white and see how it goes

Precisely, the units with major issues are the ones that individuals get rid of by leaving them to the dealership…

No one in their right mind is going to sell a car with a major breakdown to a private buyer.

Don’t limit yourself too much when it comes to color because in the end, whichever you choose, you’ll like it. I wanted blue or white and it ended up being silver, and I’m delighted

Absolutely right! I’m already talking to an individual and I was able to find it in white, let’s see how it turns out. :crossed_fingers:

Those of us from Valencia have a group, we know a large part of the cars in the area, and within the group, there are cars for sale, so you might be interested in joining.

Yes, it would be interesting! It’s just one from Valencia and tomorrow I’ll see the car. The seller’s name is Carles.

In the end, I saw the car and I loved it, I’m in the process of being able to buy it :sign_of_the_horns:t2:

Good morning, I bought one directly from HONDA, with the HONDA warranty, the car was three and a half years old and had 40,000 km, I have driven almost another 40,000 and I am happy. Of course, you have to see if they have any, mine was one of the courtesy and demonstration cars.
