Purchase of the Civic Elegance

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself, I’m Dani and I’m from Bilbao, and this Friday the 12th I’ll be picking up my new Honda Civic Elegance… I’ll keep you updated on my travel impressions since I have to bring it from Valencia. Any advice for the break-in period?

New, isn’t it?

For the break-in, nothing special. Being a hybrid, you can’t do much either, just drive at an appropriate speed (the legal one) and with the kilometers you have, it will break in over time. Then, enjoy

Okay… it’s my first automatic and on top of that, a CVT, and I have no idea… I’ll tell you about it this weekend.

If it’s the new one, it’s not a CVT; it doesn’t even have a gearbox, even though it’s called eCVT. It’s good to watch car reviews (the Power Art channel will offer you the best info) or read up a bit on the technology of what your car will be.

For the return trip, I would take it easy and avoid driving on the highway all the time, which is the worst thing you can do to any car during the break-in period. You can go on a stretch, but I would also take the national road, which will allow the car to operate in all modes, engine regimes (which is a generator and supports the electric motor). Your car, depending on the speed, runs on electric, gasoline, or both, coupling as needed via a clutch (hence there is no gearbox).

Morrillu: and besides, a trip on conventional roads is twice as enjoyable…

Well, the experience has been very good. Considering that I had to go from Valencia to Bilbao, I wasn’t going to take the national road… what I did do was vary my speed between 80 and 120… something that was a bit of a drag since the trip became very tiring. After 600 km, the consumption was good (or so I think)… 4.6… after a few more km, already in my city and some more highway at allowed speed, I have the average consumption at 4.4… Really very satisfied with the purchase. The ADAS are not very intrusive for me, something uncomfortable is the safety distance you set along with the cruise speed, as it softens the braking a lot when approaching the vehicle in front, but accelerates somewhat abruptly when changing lanes. I suppose it will be a matter of getting used to it. The suspension is really comfortable when it needs to be (bumpy roads or speed bumps) and firm in cornering. Very precise steering and a bit firm, something I really like (my old C-Max was softer)… the lighting is very scarce… the low beams are somewhat poor in terms of power and the trunk light… (it’s laughable) has anyone changed it? What have you put to give a bit more light to the trunk…
