Hi, I have a 2020 Civic 1.0 126 hp with 70,000 km and it’s getting 11 liters per 100 km. Could you help me? Does anyone know why, because the dealership is telling me it’s normal.
It depends on your lead foot mostly
On the road between 90-100 I’ve reached 5/100
On the highway, between 120-130 I’ve reached 6/100 or a bit less
And in the city, now that I’m moving around more, my record high has been 8.5/100 and my lowest was 7.1/100
So… I couldn’t really tell you
I have the 2021 Elegance Navi facelift 126 1.0, 58k km
Manual, by the way; I think the automatic’s consumption is a few tenths higher
That doesn’t seem normal at all, unless you’re going pedal to the metal all day, and even then…
In the 1.5, driving briskly in the mountains, I can get 9 or 9.5, no more; in the city between 7.5 - 8 and on the road driving more calmly or on the highway between 6.5 - 7 or even less.
The 1.0 should theoretically use less…
An average of 11L isn’t very normal, but you’d have to take the measurements properly. For example, in my 1.5 automatic, if I reset the meter to 0 right when I start it up, I leave the garage with an average of 30-40L because of the ramps and such; obviously, it goes down gradually once you’re out on the road. Anyway, how long have you had the car? Have you done any maintenance? Tell us more, because if the air filter is jet black, the oil is
You’re flooring it from one light to the next and you’re not even leaving the city; it makes no sense.
Doesn’t look normal. In my 2017 1.5, I have an average of 7.1L/100km without putting any effort at all into keeping consumption low (40 city / 60 highway). It spikes during the trip (according to the info on the tablet) when I move it from the garage to my house (3 minutes away), and for that “trip” it can end up around 13.
If you’re heavy on the gas and in the city, it can happen. If you haven’t moved or changed jobs, you’d have to look into other things. I live more in a town than a city and I have to be really careful because the average hits 9 liters very easily. And that’s without even stepping on it. There are videos out there about changing the PCV valve and cleaning the mass airflow sensor—or whatever it’s called—that might be useful for you…
Even without pushing it, 9L in the city still seems like quite a lot to me.
Well, I disconnected the battery and the 3 injectors, reconnected everything, it said “resetting values” and now it’s even showing 2.5 or 4, I don’t understand any of it.
But how many km have you covered to check those values?
I do a mix of city and highway driving; it’s like there’s some electronic issue or something, I don’t know.
Look, considering that fuel consumption averages are calculated per 100km, you should really drive at least that far before checking the average. I’d recommend resetting all the trip computer data and then just driving normally on your daily routes. After you’ve covered 100 km or more, then take a look at the average.
The 1.5 engine gets better fuel economy than the 1.0 even if it seems crazy and illogical, but it is proven. Now I’m going to put up the average of my car for you all to freak out over. I’ll take a picture and upload it and see if I can do it, because I’ve never done it before.
The last 130km at 4.9—it’s a 1.5 VTEC turbo, not a 1.9 TDI, and I wasn’t going 50 km/h. I did a 100km trip to get the pump changed in Pamplona, respecting the 90 and 120 km/h limits, though I was coasting on the downhills and anticipating my braking. I was aiming for those figures, mind you, because usually I average about 6 liters without even trying. The remaining 30km I did today going to work a bit more spiritedly, but the thing is, after the pump change, the consumption was at 4.7. Not even a diesel, man, what a machine.
I’ve had the car for 2 years and I’ve never seen it go below 5.8, and that’s on flat ground and being light on the gas.
I managed to see 4’8" in my 1.0, but under certain circumstances
When going on the highway at 90 and with more downhill than uphill, returning from Granada to Zaragoza
I achieved a total of 5’2"
The 1.5 might achieve lower consumption, but it’s about going below maximum speed, just like the 1.0
Otherwise… I don’t know.
Now, for 0 city, which now doesn’t drop below 7’2" in city
Those 130 km are a trip from the Navarre riverside to the central area, half on the road and half on the highway with a mountain pass in between, the Perdón. Respecting speed limits, not going below them, I can tell you 90 and 120. However, you need to know how to manage the fuel consumption; normally, I don’t worry and I’m at 6 liters.
I also have the 1.0 and the fuel consumption from the source is 6.4 l/km, with 10/100 in the city, 45/100 on mountain roads, and 45/100 on the highway. My speed is light.
I usually average 4.1L over 600 km with conventional driving. If I drive a bit more carefully, I can lower it to 4.0 L. Civic Diesel
