Hello, I am trying to find information to remove the DPF from my Type R FK8. Questions I have: - Where is the DPF located? - Is a custom remap necessary to prevent regeneration?
Illegal, up to €7500 if you get caught.
I’m not too worried about that fine, besides I only use it on the weekend, I’d rather take the risk.
The theory says that inside the catalyst, but unlike other brands that have tubes for differential pressure sensors, this one has nothing.
And physically it looks the same as the fk2 which didn’t have any. (fk2)
(fk8)The easiest way to cancel it is to put a catalyst from fk2 or fk8 from 2017 2018.
I understand that is the downpipe. And if I put a 200-cell sports one, homologating it to be legal and thus cancel the DPF, would it pass the MOT like that?
If you homologate with a 200-cell one, it passes the mark, but I highly doubt it…
I’ve never seen one where the manufacturer tells you it’s a replacement for the original, but if they give you the paper, yes, just like the exhausts that sound twice as loud and they give you the paper ![]()
Approved with 200 cells?
Some of us here still have or had the 300 PRL that was around, and it didn’t pass emissions, barely, but it didn’t pass. The original is “600” cells (it’s not certain, but it’s around there).
I understand, then maybe it’s better to go with a decatalyzed option, it’s more economical, better sound, and a bit more power.
By the way, does anyone know if installing a decat downpipe triggers an engine fault? Is reprogramming necessary?
Yes, it fails.
