Hello!! It’s been ages since I last wrote on the forum
I’ll keep it brief. On my way home at night, all the warnings came up, especially the one with the steering wheel and the exclamation mark. Then the steering wheel became extremely stiff, making it hard to navigate the roundabout.
I stopped the car, disconnected the control unit, started the car (the warnings disappeared), and after a few turns, the steering failed again.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas?
Hello. I had an issue where the steering wheel turned to the right along with all the sensor warning lights coming on right after installing a software update to the control unit by the official service. So, I turned around and returned to the official service with steering that pulled the car to the right. At the workshop, they told me it was because they had forgotten to reset the sensors after updating the system. In less than 5 minutes, the car was perfect, and the lights haven’t come on again since the incident 2 years ago.
PS: This is an example of the quality of work at some official Honda services, where they deliver a car after updating the control unit without checking the proper functioning of that update.
Wow, I’ve never updated the control unit in my life . I don’t know if it’s something like that, but since I’ve been to two dealerships and they couldn’t tell me what was wrong with the car (they just wanted to take my money), I’ve never gone back to the official dealer.
I don’t know if I should take the risk and take it back to Honda. I was thinking about changing the electric steering pump, but maybe it’s the control unit…
I’m really confused, I don’t know what else to do to make it run well.
When I changed the differential, the speed sensor that goes in the gearbox got messed up, and when I was driving without this sensor, the steering would occasionally stiffen because it uses the sensor to adapt to the speed. This leads me to think that whatever the fault is (you would need to check the faults reported by the ECU), some cable or connection might not be right. This should be one of the first things a workshop checks; you also have the Autel that some of us use, which can access the control units to look for faults.
Puff, well, who knows. On Monday, I’ll go to the workshop and mention it to the mechanic. I’ll have them check the errors it shows and from there, start ruling things out. The main problem is that it always has intermittent faults😥
With Autel, you can see the faults that have occurred because they are recorded in the control unit, and from there, you can continue to pull the thread.
The problem is that when I have deleted them on other occasions, they come back. They only go away when I disconnect the control unit for a while. This time, the steering failure has also been added.
What Raul means is that the faults, even if you think they have disappeared because they don’t appear on the screen, remain recorded in the control unit.
I would go with what Kytos says, connect Autel and take a look; if you don’t have it, it’s something cheap to buy and it can help you see what’s going on.
After thoroughly checking the errors the car was showing, following the thread, it turns out the issue was with a cable going to the gearbox. It was half disconnected, which is why the car was failing intermittently. They’ve fixed it, and for now, the car is running well. If there are any more problems, I’ll let you know. Many thanks for the responses
Yes, but guys, I’m afraid it will be the last year The faults have come up again and now it seems to be the speed sensor… After so many problems, I’m tired. I don’t even know if it’s that, because now it doesn’t show the speed when I’m on the highway, apart from the steering failing… The bad thing is that sometimes it fails and other times it doesn’t. A disaster, really. @Sirone
It’s what happened to me, you have to be careful that the sensor inside hasn’t broken due to improper placement when inspecting it, although I understand that by now you would have noticed if that were the case. If it doesn’t measure the speed, the steering stiffens and loosens on its own all the time, that’s normal. What I don’t understand is why that connector was loose, has some mechanic tampered with it before or am I missing something
Well, initially no one should have had to touch anything there… Moreover, the car doesn’t fail in a clear way. Today I took it out and it shows the speed and only the engine failure light comes on. And the steering was fine… Every day it’s something different.
