For about three weeks now, Google Maps navigation arrows are no longer appearing on the dashboard. I have a 2018 Civic. At Honda, they say they don’t know anything and suggested I reset the infotainment screen. However, Waze directions and the car’s built-in GPS directions do show up. I have the latest versions of everything.
I’ve searched online and followed all the steps, but nothing works.
Try doing a reset like they mentioned, uninstall and reinstall Maps. To rule out it being the phone, try using a different one; it could also be a bad app update. Worst case scenario, after backing up first, reset the phone as well.
Well, the phone system hasn’t been updated, no, new updates aren’t coming out anymore. What is updated is Google Maps, Android Auto, and the car’s tablet. So for now, I haven’t been able to try it with another phone.
The same thing has been happening to me for a few days now. It no longer shows GPS or Google Maps directions on the dashboard. I’ve tried resetting the tablet, I’ve checked the settings in Google Maps, and nothing
Thanks a lot for mentioning it. If it was working fine for you like it was for me until now, it could be the Google Maps update. What phone do you have? I have a Xiaomi.
My Google Maps, updated to the latest version, still shows directions on the dashboard; however, I have a Samsung and use a wireless Android Auto dongle, so I don’t use a cable anymore.
I’ve been thinking about getting one of those wireless adapters, but since my phone doesn’t have wireless charging, it doesn’t really matter to me since I need to plug it in to charge it anyway. Do those devices work well? Any specific recommendations?
I think it must be the app, I mean Google Maps. It’s possible that they haven’t done a great job for certain brands or models, and that’s why it’s failing for some. I see that our friend with his Samsung is doing fine, which I’m glad about; we’ll have to wait for them to release a patch to fix it. Let’s hope they do, otherwise I’m screwed…
It’s good to know, to see what failed on a non-Xiaomi device. We have no choice but to wait for Google to fix it. I’ve written to them, but the response leaves much to be desired:
Hello,
I understand, but the exact answer is beyond my scope, so I recommend that you contact Honda support.
