Hi, I’ve got a major problem right now to be honest, and I’m hoping there’s some kind of solution. After looking into a hundred things and thinking about it a lot, I decided to put the Type R spoiler on my Civic. It’s already mounted and installed, but here’s the issue: I bought it from the Akr Performance website, which I saw recommended alongside a4honda. The workshop is asking me for a part reference number to issue the workshop certificate for homologation, but the part doesn’t have one because it’s not required where they are based. Would I have to take it off again and buy one from somewhere else that actually has a reference number? This really pisses me off; I spent several months looking into everything regarding homologation and I never saw that mentioned… I really don’t want to be getting fined ten times a month… is there any kind of solution? The workshop told me that a manufacturer’s certificate is needed for homologation (?), but I had no idea about that and obviously they don’t have one. Just my luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
talk to an engineer who specializes in this. Without the certificate of conformity from whoever manufactured the spoiler, you can’t go through the easy route.
In the end, it’ll just come down to paying more and putting some random sticker on the spoiler to identify it.
I’ll send you someone’s contact info, don’t worry, but he’s in Madrid—not sure where you’re from.
Don’t worry, it’s fine… No certificate is necessary… you’re in Spain and here, paying for it solves the problem ![]()
… You need to go to a homologation specialist… they will ask you for all kinds of photos and do a study to make sure nothing sticks out, check values, etc… After that, they’ll send you a paper that needs to be signed by the authorized professional who installed it, including their details, and then you’ll have to go through the ITV with all the documentation to get it added to the vehicle’s technical sheet and be legal… you’ll spend about 200/300 euros and have about a month and a half of headaches
… but don’t worry, everything except death has a solution.
Hey! I see it now, man. It’s true I’ll have to pay a bit more, but at least I won’t get hit with a fine, and they’re definitely not cheap. Thanks a lot!
I got the spoiler on my Accord certified remotely and without any issues.. if you need a certification specialist, I’ll pass you the contact.
I have one for now, but if you send it over I’d appreciate it, just to compare prices. The one I was given charges €200—I don’t think they’ll charge less than that, but hey, it’s worth a shot hahaha
That’s the standard price.
He’ll get you everything you need for the homologation, don’t worry.
The workshop can give you the installation certificate, which you definitely need; if not, the homologation expert can surely get it for you for an extra fee.
Great, then send me a DM with the number if possible please. Is it all online or do I have to go there? I’m from Madrid, thanks!
If you have Instagram, look him up as Sitohomologaciones… and send him a DM, he’ll get back to you, or hit him up on WhatsApp at 613505067.. Tell him you’re messaging on behalf of Esteban, the customer you did the Accord spoiler for who’s now doing a Civic diffuser for an exhaust.. maybe he’ll give you a bit of a discount, I don’t know..
That’s insane, thanks a lot bro!!
