Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires

Hi everyone!!!

I’ll soon need to replace the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on my Type R FL5, which I’m very happy with… but has anyone fitted the Sport Cup 2s? I imagine the grip performance is incredible, but how do they compare to the 4S in the wet, and how long do they last on the road?

Cheers to all!!!

On my Nissan Primera I run Falken tires that perform veryyyy well and have perfect noise levels, and on Friday I ordered Tomason TN30 18x8 wheels and Falken Azenis FK520 tires in 235/40/18. I hope I can have the car ready for summer.

Dry grip improves significantly once they get up to temperature, and in a car like the FL5, it can be a game-changer. In the cold or wet, they’ll be similar to the 4S—maybe a bit more tricky at the limit, but they aren’t dangerous unless they’re already quite worn and you’re on a highway full of puddles.

As for lifespan, expect about half or nearly half of what you’d get from normal tires, depending on how you drive (it’s assumed that if you’re fitting these, it’s to go fast).

Depending on where you live, I’d say no; winter and rain in the north is a gamble. Below 10 degrees, it’s like driving on wooden wheels (they act twitchy as soon as you hit the smallest puddle at 60km/h). In the summer they’re awesome, though they need a couple of corners to warm up, similar to Bridgestone S001s. I can’t really tell you about their lifespan because I only put them on in the summer and for track days. It also depends on your driving style and so on.
