I’ve been searching for some worthwhile sports brake pads for my FK7 (1.5L, 182 HP) for a while now, and honestly… I’m getting a bit fed up with the issue.
Just three weeks ago, I installed some EBC Greenstuff hoping to improve performance on certain stretches, and they’ve been a disaster. They glazed over after three brake applications, and not even very demanding ones. Break-in was done properly… They seemed to work well during the break-in, but after three hard brakes, I was left without brakes. I suppose they overheated, although they shouldn’t have, as it’s not something I haven’t done with the stock ones, and this didn’t happen with them. I could install the Yellow ones, but after the scare I had with the Greens, they don’t inspire much confidence… and we’re talking about brakes.
I can only find Ferodo’s DS2500 for the rear axle; Brembo, the same or nothing (I can’t remember now); I’ve looked at Galfer, but I can’t find a clear reference either.
Has anyone installed something similar to DS2500, Yellowstuff, etc.?
Recommendations are appreciated. Let’s see if I can finally find some that really work well…
If you want a minimum level of performance, you need to go for the yellow ones, and they won’t be top-notch if the green ones have disappointed you. I assume you have good hoses and fluid. I would recommend the Pagid Street+ but the last time I checked, there weren’t any for our car. I have them with the BBK from Ksystem and I’m very happy, I’m on the second set.

Well, first of all, braided brake lines and a good fluid, if you don’t mind the budget, Ferodo Superformula, if not, Motul 700. Without that, you’ll have the pedal down after just three hard brakes.
Hello! I have brake lines, good fluid, and the yellow ones, and honestly, they hold up well when I’ve pushed them on some stretches. A bit noisy at first, but overall quite satisfied.
I bet that the brake failure is due to not having brake lines and not because of the pads. Just like David, the first thing I installed were brake lines and Motul 500 or 700 fluid, I don’t remember. And with that, it was more than enough. Later, I added EBC yellow and it brakes so well you could hit the steering wheel and it doesn’t wear out.
But yes, it will probably end up happening too.
