Hello, let me introduce myself. I just retired an 8th generation 1.8 gasoline and have just acquired the 1.5 T executive trim with 55,000 km for €17,800 at an official Honda dealership with a 24-month warranty. I checked the air and cabin filters and it seems they were the original ones because they are super dirty, I purchased the originals from the dealership. Any recommendations I can make as a user considering the mileage it has? At first glance, the car looks impeccable, except for the filters, the tires were the original ones and I had to change them (I put 225 45 R17 from the old Civic, which were practically new) and it does a couple of strange things:
The start and stop doesn’t work, the battery symbol appears and I’ve had it for a reasonable time for it to be fully charged, but it keeps doing that. The car has a Vartra brand battery which must be the original one, maybe it has reached the end of its useful life? The dealership tells me that since it was parked for a while before selling it to me, that’s normal, but enough time has passed for it to have charged, don’t you think? In fact, the day I acquired it, I drove 400 km back home…
The driver’s window, when I try to raise it, once it reaches the top and is about to close, it goes back down. It’s as if it detects some obstacle or something and goes back down. Then maybe after a while, it closes properly or if I want to close it at that moment, I raise it little by little until there’s a small gap left open and from that point, it closes well.
If anyone has experienced something similar, I would appreciate some insight or otherwise, when I go for the service, I’ll have them check it in the workshop.
Well, if you just acquired it, claim it directly from the dealership. Regarding the battery, it has likely had a better life; some of us here have installed the Varta with AGM technology, and it withstands the start-stop use much better. ▷ Batería Varta A8 60Ah Start-Stop
The Start/stop of this car is quite finicky. It didn’t work for me for a good while since I bought it, even though it had a fairly recent battery. After a long trip of 800 km, it started working, it stayed that way for a few months until it stopped, and it’s been like that for over a year.
At the workshop, they tell me the battery is fine and doesn’t need replacing, and I don’t mind since I always disconnect it anyway. But in other cars, it almost always works, and in this one, it doesn’t, that’s the reality.
So I don’t know, if it’s useful for you, ask them to put in a new one.
Obviously, the window issue is also something to claim under warranty.
By the way, you got a good price upfront for the mileage it has. Is it a 5-door or a sedan?
The truth is that I would have the start and stop turned off, I don’t like it, but well, seeing the battery symbol gives the impression that it’s already at the end of its life, I’ll ask for it to be checked when the time comes…
It’s the sedan, executive trim from 2019, the restyling, honestly, it’s spotless, from what I see they tend to be much more expensive, with more kilometers and less warranty, so for now I’m delighted.
Hello, enjoy it. As for the window, try to “reset” the motor, I think you lower it all the way down without releasing the button, hold for about 5 seconds, then raise it again without releasing and hold for another 5 seconds. Try it…
The same thing happens to me but with the co-pilot’s window. If you manage to solve it, please let me know how. Last weekend I disassembled the door to see if there was any loose guide or something, but I didn’t see anything unusual (without being an expert in the matter).
If you can test what the buddy above says, I’ve done it now and it went up without a problem once done, but I tell you that it sometimes does this to me, so I can’t assure you that it’s fixed with the system “restart.”
The window issue keeps happening to me, “reprogramming” it worked at the time and it seemed to work, but it must have been a coincidence… it never goes up properly anymore, it’s driving me up the… wall.
