Hello! I plan to have my car painted at a workshop, and I’ve been told that depending on whether the seals are glued or clipped, the cost varies. If they are glued, I have to buy each seal from the original manufacturer, which significantly increases the price.
Does anyone have any idea, who has had their car painted or knows how the seals are installed?
From the bar counter… I would take it to them and let them decide how it is, because in the end, they are the ones who will give you the price, and no matter what you tell them, they are the ones who will disassemble and assemble it… this way you avoid the hassle of: “you told me…”
It turns out I’ve called a couple of workshops to paint the car and they’ve told me they need to take a good look at it because they believe that for this model, the seals between the doors, etc., are not clipped but adhered. This means that once removed, they cannot be put back and would need to be replaced with new ones, which would increase the budget because each seal costs €100 and there are several (at least 5, I think). I don’t really know what story they’ve told me, honestly. I’ll see if I can go in person due to work (it was over phone calls) and have them tell me.
The rubbers on the chassis part are fitted into a metal profile on the door itself, those on the door part are fitted into clips that come out of the door, the rest of the seals with clips.
