For about a month now, I’ve noticed that when I floor it at high RPMs (around 3,000-4,000 RPM), the car jerks heavily. It’s a Honda Civic FK7 1.5 gas.
I changed the spark plugs at 64,000 km when I bought it, and it now has 92,000 km. I’ve been using cheap gas (which concerns me).
My conclusions are that it could be related to the ignition, the injectors, the MAF sensor, a cracked hose, or the fuel filter, which hasn’t been changed yet. I doubt it’s a transmission issue or anything like that. I also checked the air filter and it’s clean; I thought it might be clogged and affecting the mixture.
If anyone has experienced something similar and can share their experience, I’d appreciate it.
Don’t you have a scanner you can plug into the diagnostic port to see if it gives you any clues? Jerking can happen for many reasons and, of course, it’s not a good idea to start changing parts at random; it could be coils, a dirty MAF sensor, spark plugs (though if you changed them only 26k ago it would be strange), injectors, carbon buildup… in my other car it happened because of a faulty lambda sensor.
Like I said, I’d start by running a diagnostic first; if you don’t have the Autel, there are other very cheap options.
In this case, I would recommend going to an official Honda service center to have the fuel pump replaced. It’s part of a recall campaign. I think it might be related.
Hi Sirone, first I’ll hook up the diagnostic computer to see if it tells me anything, and if not, I think the most sensible thing is to go to Honda as you say.
Just an update: I called Honda and they told me there’s no campaign for my car. Isn’t it supposed to be for all cars? Or is it just some and not others?
Could it be that the campaign isn’t showing up because they haven’t gotten to mine yet?
I would recommend refueling at Repsol, bp, or similar stations. In my Astra, it was jerking, and when I stopped using low-cost gasoline, the issue disappeared. In my partner’s Kia, it went into emergency mode because of this gasoline. Since then, I don’t refuel at those stations, and I asked at Honda; they replaced my pump quite some time ago.
