Intake tube X 1.6 idtec

Hello people!

Quick question: Does anyone know of any replacement/similar solution to change the tube that connects the intake with the turbo inlet on the 1.6?

It’s part number 7:

I don’t feel like shelling out more than €150 they’re asking for, to be honest :joy: and following someone on YouTube, I messed up a bit by gluing the crack I have with superglue and putting gasket silicone on it. On the outside “fine,” but on the inside, if the superglue or silicone comes apart, the turbo will send me home.

For what it’s worth, I’ve measured both ends of the tube with a caliper, and it reduces from 81 to 66 mm. Any ideas are welcome!

I don’t know if you’ve looked at non-original parts, but it might be better to replace the whole thing with a new one. On the other hand, you could use a soldering iron to join the plastic or maybe patch it with a bicycle inner tube? That’s what comes to mind :joy:

Now that you mention it, the first thing I should have done is the soldering… :man_facepalming:t3:

Well, it’s done now, the mess is that I used superglue and I was afraid it might melt or something, but I researched better and, at most, the turbo inlet will reach 50-60 degrees if I go to Andalusia

In the end, I left it like this inside:

Pretty neat without superglue burrs, and on the outside with silicone in the groove. :ok_hand:

It’s well put together, but you can still run the soldering iron inside to make it as smooth as possible without burrs and without any kind of “impurity,” but it doesn’t look bad.

Hi!
I don’t know where you’re getting that €150 from, the original (super expensive) part is €68. Since you’re posting the image… you might as well post the reference  1722859NG00

If you go to an official Honda service center (call first), they should be able to provide the part at a price similar to the one in the link.
If you want it cheaper, just putting that reference into Google will bring up spares from AliExpress, eBay…
On the 1.6 i-DTEC of the previous generation (the one I have), I’ve seen quite a few that break easily and many people have picked up those spares from AliExpress, eBay (mostly in the UK)… and they seem happy, although it’s not really known how long they last—they might even end up lasting longer.
