Based on your concern without debating the months… You’ve answered yourself, just go for the new one that’s next to your house.
Yes, that’s what I’m going to do… the difference is €20.
By the way, at Norauto they have it for €140

40 euros cheaper for the Yuasa, which is easy to say…
Morrillu: follow me for more financial tips…
My hopes were dashed… it turns out that when I went to pick up the battery (I reserved it online), I found that it’s the 2024 model when the order clearly shows it’s the 2025 model… in fact, they told me they’ve received the new ones for many models except the A8, and since it said there was 1 in stock, it was surely from the warehouse… so I filed a complaint, because I’m not paying 140 for the old model…
I saw on Amazon a store that was selling it and upon investigating, I saw that they have a physical store in San Fernando… for the same reason as you, considering that they had the new model. I think it was here
http://carrerasautomotor.es/ which states they are an authorized Varta point. I don’t know, worth a try?
Oh, and I just remembered. I have contacts at Carrefour and I know they were replacing them with the new ones. I think the AGM A8 was there, check it out because if so, they usually give a 15% discount on the price you see… Let me know.
At Carrefour they don’t have it (online) and at Feuvert it’s 160 and something… I’m waiting for a response from Norauto, and if they tell me it’s a typo and it has to be the Sylver model, then I’ll cancel and get that same one but from an online site, which even with shipping is cheaper for me… the downside is, I won’t have it for the getaway this long weekend ![]()
I know not online, but I swear I saw it in a physical store. Ideally, go to Alcobendas.
Edit
It’s there. 100% because I photographed it haha, but I’m not sure if the price is what you’re interested in (subtract 15%). I found them.
But I would tell you even more. If you’re going to get that one, I evaluated and recommend the Carrefour brand, which makes them Varta. I’ve had them in the Avensis for 10 years and they’re perfect. Consider it.
Add the 15% promo…
Which Carrefour is it? Okay, I think you mean Alcobendas… from Toledo it’s a bit out of the way for me
… but with the 15, it ends up being the same as Norauto.
Getting the one from Carrefour… I don’t know…
Sorry for the indiscretion, but… if they’ve given you such good results, why didn’t you install them on the Civic?
Well, because the choice was to use the same A and Ah, or one with more. I chose to use the original, you know, to avoid putting more strain on the starter motor or possibly forcing the alternator. Surely nothing will happen, many here use them, but the original gave me more peace of mind, in my case.
If I had decided to use one with more capacity, as you are considering, the one from Carrefour is well-priced and, as I said, I have three in the Avensis and they are perfect. I know firsthand that they are Varta, and that gives me confidence.
In the hypermarkets in the south, you should have it too, I would try in Fuenlabrada, Móstoles, or Leganés, which are the largest…
Damn, after the explanations, are you still repeating the same mantra? The starting peak is not the same as the capacity… Oh my…
Morrillu: the R5 turbo would kick in when downshifting…
Yes. The explanations are fine, but despite that, the engineers (and I!) have chosen to use a lower capacity hahaha
I know that the starting peak is different from the capacity. In this case, the difference is the technology (AGM vs EFB) and the starting peak, I see that the capacity is 60 Ah the same, yes
It’s a point of view
Well, in the end, the battery has arrived.. it’s coming with me on the trip haha.. if it decides to fail, it’s just 2 screws.
Hahaha
We’re such cowards
Enjoy and hopefully you’ll change it when you get back
After 110,000KM and almost 7 years (6 years and 10 months), my original battery died because I connected a dashcam to it. I’ve been reading your posts, and after seeing all the opinions and battery varieties, many concepts were still unclear to me. I called the dealership, and they couldn’t see me until the end of August, giving me an estimate of approximately €225 including VAT (I assume they would install the same battery). I’ve seen that some colleagues have recommended the Varta AGM Dynamic A8, and due to the dashcam issue, it’s recommended, so I went for that one for my Sport Plus (1.5VTEC). Even though it doesn’t have S&S, the folks at Norauto (where I went to ask) recommended it to me because the dashcam will be drawing power almost 24 hours a day. I don’t know if anyone has installed it on a 1.5VTEC here, but I’ll let you know how it goes.
I finally ordered it on the Norauto website with home installation since my car is dead in my home garage:
I was quite guided by the opinion of @Sparky, who I saw got the same one due to the dashcam issue, although he hasn’t installed it yet. They are coming to install it on Saturday, so I’ll let you know.
Everything will be fine
The truth is that the original one lasted you a long time, wow!!
I have it pending to install… it’s going in the trunk…
The price came out 8€ more for you than for me, a good price if it’s the new model.
Maybe you can tell me how it goes before I do hahaha
Hello.. well, my battery has reached its limit… my Civic is the 1.5 and I must say it spent exactly a year warning that the start/stop system wasn’t activating due to low battery… so the margin it gives is quite wide.. luckily it happened in my home garage… so now to find the battery and install it calmly… how’s the Varta you’ve been talking about lately?
